Class News
v Thank you to all of those who came out for conferences! It was a pleasure to sit and talk with you about your child. Please let me know if there are any remaining questions or concerns. You can email me any time at:
leanna.vaughan@cobbk12.org
v This week, I assigned the new Science Solar System Project. Please look over the blue sheet, sign the bottom and return it. Every student needs to complete a project. The yellow sheet will tell you how they will be graded. Please feel free to assist your child on this project, but let them do most of it themselves. You may use anything you like to build your model of the solar system. This presentation is due February 18th. Be creative!
v Starting Monday, We will be participating in the Six Flags Reading Club. Each participant will receive a free ticket to Six Flags for reading six hours and keeping a Reading Log.
Although we read for 20 minutes each night, this time will not count towards your
Six Flags reading log. Each morning, I still will check homework reading logs like always. The green Six Flags Reading Log will be due no later than February 13th. Students may read any printed material on any day of the week. Books read in school or at home for homework do not count towards reaching your goal.
Participants who miss the deadline will not receive a Six Flags ticket. It is very important that each student reads each night and gets it signed by a parent. Thanks for your help with this!
v Congratulations to Michael who won a free rock climbing class for being an outstanding student.
v Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits will be on sale before school for $2.50 if you would like to buy one.
v The lunch manager has asked us to remind you that you can view your child’s lunch balance online for free. We have several students going over their monthly limit. Online, you can view what they are purchasing and monitor their account balance. Thank you so much for preventing a shortage of funds.
Just a Reminder:
v Every Friday is school spirit day! Wear your spirit wear on Fridays! Spirit wear can be ordered from PTA.
v I send home failing test grades to be corrected. Please review these tests with your students and sign that you have seen the test. I only allow one night to make up these tests. It is very important that the tests come back corrected the next day.
v You can find a complete list of AR books on the school website if your child is at home and would like to know if a book qualifies for AR.
