Class News
v HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am so excited to start a new year with my students!
v Conference schedules are in Thursday Folders today. Please take a look at them and return them as soon as possible. I tried to coordinate with Big Shanty and Kennesaw. I hope this time works for you. Report cards will be given at each student’s conference.
v Congratulations to our January student of the month – Josue! Great Job!
v We have a Spelling test and a Verb test tomorrow! Study hard!
v Due to the short month, there will not be a book report for the month of January.
v The Big Shanty Spelling Bee will be held January 16th. Katie will be representing our class in this event. Good luck, Kaite! Andrea is our runner up should Katie be unable to participate.
Just a Reminder:
v Every Friday is school spirit day! Wear your spirit wear on Fridays! Spirit wear can be ordered from PTA.
v I send home failing test grades to be corrected. Please review these tests with your students and sign that you have seen the test. I only allow one night to make up these tests. It is very important that the tests come back corrected the next day.
v You can find a complete list of AR books on the school website if your child is at home and would like to know if a book qualifies for AR.
Dates to Remember:
v January 19th- MLK Holiday
v January 26th-30th- Early Dismissal for Conferences and Report
Cards go home
Reading Hint for the Week:
Homework Hint for the Week: Make sure that you are doing your homework EVERY night! You are responsible for it ALL! What you don’t do at home will be done the next day during lunch or recess, so avoid missing fun time and do it at home! Here are a few websites you should check out with your kids: We have been learning all about the eyes and ears. Sit down with your kids and figure out what pitches you can hear. Your kids will think it's funny. I stop at 17khz. :) Try it out! http://www.ultrasonic-ringtones.com/ Also, we tested to see if anyone in our class was colorblind. I told them that I would post a link here to a colorblind test. Enjoy!
Get your Reading Log initialed by your parents EVERY night! I will be checking!
