Testing is over!!!!

The students did a great job with the change in schedule and working so long on our CoGat and IOWA tests. I was very proud of them. 

The week of September 29 we will return to our regular schedule with our Spelling test on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Look in your child's binder for their new list of words on each Monday.  Friday, October 3 will be our field trip.

In Math our focus of study will be "Subtraction."   Please practice counting backwards from 20 to 0.

Read 20 minutes each night with your child.

TESTING IS COMING FOR 3RD GRADE!!!

On Tuesday, September 16 Big Shanty will have its first Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:10. Starting Wednesday, September 17 through September 29 we will be giving the IOWA and CoGat tests. During this time period I will not be giving formal homework or Spelling Lists. Please do continue to read the Fry Word lists with your child and do a few of the "Fun" math activities I sent home earlier. All children will need extra rest and a healthy breakfast for this time. Vulcan Fieldtrip

Parents please remember that on September 9, 2008 we will be taking a field trip to Vulcan. We are scheduled to leave the school at 9:45 and return at 11:45. Please have your child wear tennis shoes, and if they have one, a Big Shanty t-shirt.

We will also be having an Early Release Day on Tuesday September 16, 2008.
