What is going on???

Hello all!

I think we are all ready for a break. Remember this weekend is a 3 day weekend, please enjoy!

Below is what we are learning about at school:

1. Math: We just finished measuring and will be working on area and perimeter beginning next week.
2. Reading: We are focusing on nonfiction text conventions. We will be having a quiz over all the conventions next week.
3. Language Arts: Finishing up their informational writing about their animal.
4. Social Studies: learning the rivers of Georgia and resources.

What should you be doing at home?

Please read nightly with your child. Myskillstutor.com is strongly encouraged for all students to improve and practice different skills.

Were Back

We have had a good week back at school. 

Here are some things coming up:

1. James and the Giant Peach performance on Monday
2. Sharing through the seasons: Students will write a response to literature about a winter holiday book of their choice then share it with the class.
3. Next week will be Mr. Wilson's last week with us! We wish him the best of luck with his future in eduaciton, and are very thankful that we have been able to have him in our classroom.


REMINDERS:

• Please study your spelling words an multiplication facts at home
• Please study sight words each night and bring them with you to school everyday (only for students that apply)

We can only do what we decide to do!

Important Dates

Tuesday, November 8 - No School for Students, Professional Learning Day.

Monday-Friday, November 21-25- No School, Thanksgiving Holiday.

We Are Learning...

Math- Multiplication facts to 10 X 10

Reading- Using what we know to understand what we read; Main idea and supporting details

Grammar- Types of Sentences (interrogative, declarative, imperative, exclamatory)

Writing-Responding to what we read in writing (cereal box book with cover and summary)

  Box Tops

Our Class won the Box Tops contest! We received a tub full of playground toys including a football, soccerball, basketball, kickballs, Frisbees, jumpropes, board games, etc. Thank you for sending in your box tops, and thank you PTA for the great prize!

  AR Parent

Thank you Mrs. Hayman for being our AR Parent! Mrs. Hayman will come in every Tuesday to help students select AR (Accelerated Reader) books to check out from the library and then take AR tests on the books. We appreciate Mrs. Hayman's help to get our class motivated and organized to participate.

 

Start of Something New

Can you believe it? We have completed the first 9 weeks of school! Let's give a big hand to all of our kids for serviving testing! They were such troopers. :) Next week is conference week and I look forward to meeting with all of you. This also means shool will be letting out earlier each day. Dismissal will be 2 hours earlier!

What we are learning in each subject:

• Math: Multiplication Fluency (use math websites to help you study)
• Reading: Generating Questions, Main Idea and Details
• Writing: Summarizing and Response to Literature
• Science: Weathering and Erosion
• Social Studies: Famous Americans and map skills (completed the last 4 weeks of the 9 weeks)

• Tuesday, September 27 is Fall Picture Day! An order packet will be sent home on Monday.
• Tuesday, October 4 is our field trip to Vulcan rock quarry. :)
• Wednesday, October 5 CogAt and ITBS testing begin.

Off to a GREAT start!

We have started off our year getting acquainted and learning school procedures and expectations. We are building a foundation for a caring classroom community. Our Students are demonstrating respect for one another and for our classroom.
