End of the Year!!

As most of you have already noticed, the last day of school is quickly approaching!!  May 24th will be here before you know it.  Here is a list of upcoming events to mark on your calendar. 

May 10th- Volunteer Brunch

May 11th- Field Day

May 21st- Yearbook Signing and Kickball Tournament begins

May 23rd- Performing Arts Program and Early Dismissal

May 24th- Performing Arts Program, Early Dismissal, and Last Day of School

We hope you all have a wonderful summer break! We have enjoyed having each of you as 4th graders this year!  Thank you for being such an amazing class!

We're 'Egg-cited' about the CRCT!!

We want to wish everyone a happy and safe Spring Break.  We also wanted to let you know that we filled the students' CRCT folders with valuable 4th grade review and practice material to help prepare them for the test.  Please make sure that they continue to use Study Island and MySkills Tutor during the break. The students get to earn rewards for completed practice packets so please encourage your child to complete them.  Have a wonderful break!

Dates & Reminders

Hello Parents,

Please take notice of the following dates and reminders for the upcoming weeks.

Our Class Field Trip to the Chattahoochee River Recreational Area will take place on Monday, March 19, 2012. Please remember to send in your child's lunch if they signed up to bring lunch from home. 

Please be on the look out for report cards which will be going out on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.  Be sure to sign and return them as soon as possible.  Please also remember to send in two postage stamps so that we can mail your child's final report cards to you.   

Spring Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Information will be coming home soon in your child's Thursday Folders.

Please remember to encourage your child to complete Study Island and MySkillsTutor activities each night.  We have increased our classroom requirements to FOUR tests per week.  Ask your child about our new school wide contest for participation in MySkills Tutor. We would love for the winner to be from our class. Again, we feel that these websites help greatly with our preparation for the upcoming CRCT. 

 

Thank You

We would like to say a great big "Thank You" for all of the kind and thoughtful cards, flowers, and school supplies that you sent in to us this week.  We certainly feel special and appreciated!  We would like to say an extra "Thanks" to Mrs.  Sengvixay, our room mom, for covering our class on Wednesday so that we could enjoy our nice luncheon.  You all are awesome and we are so glad to have you on our team. 

We were very pleased with the Solar System projects. The students were so creative and they seem excited about our upcoming project. Most of you signed that you received the packet for our American Revolution projects.  These projects are due on Thursday, March 8, 2012.  Ask your child to tell you about the optional bonus that they can do. Once again, we can't wait to see all of their efforts as they learn more about the events and people of the American Revolution. 

Thanks for your support and remember that there is no school on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 in observance of President's Day.

Announcing.....

 

We are excited to announce that our class won the "Week 2 Math Snack Attack" competition.  Ask your child about our new math journals and their daily math problems that we work on during snack time. We are hoping to decorate our door with many more certificates as we review our 4th grade math concepts each day. 

Thanks for your support with our CRCT folders.  Please continue to encourage your child to work hard on Study Island at home as we can see their efforts here at school. 

 

FYI:

Science Projects are due on Monday, February 13, 2012.  The students are excited about sharing their knowledge about the Solar System and we are looking forward to seeing their creative sides.

Dear Parents,

Please be on the look out for our yellow CRCT Practice Folders that will be coming home daily with your child.  Inside of the folders, you will find your child’s login information, their practice logs, helpful hints and classroom practice tests. Please encourage your child to visit at least one of the sites each night and please sign their logs indicating that they have.  Remember you can document these sessions on their reading logs. As we stated in the parent letters, we strongly feel that this practice will increase your child's confidence and better prepare them for the upcoming CRCT. I have included the sites below for your easy access. Thanks for your support and listen out for friendly classroom contests that we will soon promote.

Welcome Back

Welcome back!!! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break . We extend a big thank you to Mrs. Sengvixay for taking good care of the classroom frogs during the break. 

We are off to a great start and are ready to approach the last half of the school year.  Here are a few topics that we will be covering during the third nine weeks:

First, we would like to say a big "Thank You" for all of the thoughtful and nice gifts that you so generously sent in for us. We truly appreciate your support and assistance with making the first half of this year such a great one!!  Next, we would like to wish each of you a wonderful, safe, and relaxing holiday break. When you get a chance, ask your child to tell you about their "silver packages" reminder magnets. Happy Holidays and Happy New Years!!

Here are a few dates to keep in mind as you plan for the month of January:

Jan. 10th-Students return to school

Jan. 13th- Report cards go home

Jan. 16th- MLK Day- No school!

 

Fire Safety

As some of your children may have already told you, we are going to be visiting the Fire Safety Village on December 12th for our first 4th grade field trip.  Please send in a note or the form we sent home, telling us if your child plans to bring a school lunch or get a sack lunch from the cafeteria.  The firemen will also be visiting our classrooms on both December 5th and January 17th so students can learn more about fire safety.  We will be sending home a Fire Safety book for students to complete.  They must complete the assignments in order to go on the field trip. 

We are super excited! 

Canned Food Drive

As you know, our class has been actively participating in the annual Big Shanty Food Drive.  We are doing a great job and have brought in so many food items!  We are so very proud of how our students are so driven when helping our community and families in need.  Please remember that the food drive ends on November 14th, so please send in canned food items to help.  We greatly appreciate your continued support!
