· If possible, please send in a package of PRE-SHARPENED PENCILS on Tuesday, April 22nd or Wednesday, April 23rd. They can be found in stores already pre- sharpened. These will be very helpful during testing, as sharpening pencils is distracting!!!
Tips for testing!
1. The purpose of the CRCT is to find out what the students have learned in this grade and to help the school plan what they will learn next year and in which grade they will be placed.
2. A good strategy to help choose the correct answer is to give yourself a 50/50 life line by narrowing your choices down to the 2 most likely answers.
3. Next, choose the best answer, even if you are not 100% sure.
4. When beginning the test it is important to listen to the teacher’s instructions and read any written directions on the test before beginning to mark answers.
5. Read through all of your choices before choosing your answer so that you can choose the best one.
6. You will not know all the answers on the test & that is OK.
7. You may not finish the test section before the time limit is up, but you will try to finish as many as possible.
8. Your teacher can only give the directions once, so you must listen closely the first time.
9. If you need to change an answer, then be sure to erase the first answer completely and bubble in the new answer.
10. If you finish the test section and have extra time, then the best thing to do is to look back and check your answers.
11. Your teacher and parents only expect you to do your best.
12. You can prepare for testing days by: eating a healthy breakfast, wearing comfortable clothes, get plenty of sleep the night before, arrive at school early to have plenty of time to get settled.
13. Good things to bring to school on testing days are: #2 sharpened pencils, eraser, and glasses (if you wear them).
14. The following will help you feel less stressed: taking several slow deep breaths, stretching before the test, and telling yourself “I can do it.”
15. Reasons to do your best on the test are: to show what you have learned this school year, to feel proud of your effort, and to help the school plan for your education next year.
