Practice Typing

Computer Today we talked about the importance of learning to type. Many students are choosing to type the final draft of their persuasive writing, but sometimes it's tough to type a long piece of writing when your typing skills aren't up to par. Here are some fun practice games to help familiarize kids with the keyboard.

Big Shanty's Writing Fair

Hamletcolor The school Writing Fair is up and running. I would like to have an entry from every student in my class. We will work on our entries in class and at home, so start thinking about a brilliant idea. You might choose to write a fictional story, a true story, a report, a poem, anything!

Why enter? Well aside from indulging in the joys of writing, and aside from the fact your teacher is making you enter, there are also some cool prizes. Writing Fair winners and honorable mentions will be published in the 2007-2008 Big Shanty Writing Anthology. First, second, and third place winners will also receive a copy of the anthology and will be recognized on BSEN and at Authors' Night. First place winners will move on to the county level writing fair as well!

Entries are due by Friday, February 15th, so put that pencil to paper!
