In Math, we have begun our study of fractions. We are identifying fractions as part of a whole and as part of a set. Please read the letter found in today’s Thursday Folder summarizing what we will be studying in math this nine weeks. After fractions, we will learn about decimals.
In Reading, we are focusing on the elements of fictional pieces. We are also reviewing pronouns and the four types of sentences.
In Writing, we are learning to write persuasive pieces. We read Hey, Little Ant, where a child is about to step on an ant. Each student is now writing a letter to the child trying to persuade the child to either let the ant live or step on it.
In Science/Social Studies, we are learning about the geographic regions of Georgia. We are focusing on four main habitats (mountain, Piedmont, swamp, and coastal). We made models of the regions using graham crackers and candy. Next we will learn about the plants an animals that have adapted to the various land and climate of the different regions
