We are sad to announce that Mrs. Chapman has moved to Texas. We wish her well and will miss her. She was so special to us. We have not yet heard who will be filling Mrs. Chapman’s position.
In Math, we have been comparing fractions to decimals, adding decimals, and subtracting decimals. Next week, we will begin a measurement unit.
In Reading, we are learning the rules of capitalization.
In Writing, we are learning to write persuasive pieces.
In Social Studies, we are doing research online using Britannica Encyclopedia Online. Each student is researching an important American figure. We are then creating timelines using the Timeliner program in the computer lab.
We are so excited to be using our new “smart board” (Promethean Board). This interactive board is just like a touch screen computer monitor, but it’s the size of a bulletin board. Our class is able to interact with the board learning our skills by means of flipcharts, computer programs, and the internet. Ask your child to describe the amazing capabilities of the smart board. We are very lucky to have this tool as a permanent part of our learning experience.
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful turnout at the Chick-Fil-A teacher-of-the-month banquet. Thank you for the flowers, gifts, and for getting out in the cold to make it a special night.
