The Rock Cycle

We have learned that igneous rock is formed when rock is melted and then cools, like the process that occurs when lava from a volcano cools. We demonstrated this process by melting and cooling chocolate. We also have learned that metamorphic rock forms when igneous rock and sedimentary rock are impacted by heat and pressure to form a new rock. We demonstrated this process by applying alot of pressure to broken up fruit chews to make a new form. Tomorrow we will learn about the sedimentary rock formations.  Check out the following link to learn more about the rock cycle: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/chemistry/changestoearthandatmosphere/0rocksrev1.shtml

Welcome!

Welcome to third grade! It was wonderful meeting many of you at Sneak-A-Peek on Thursday. Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Christianson, and I are excited about the upcoming school year. Remember to bring your "Brown Brag" activity with you on Monday. The items included in your bag can reflect a hobby, something about your family, your summer vacation, a talent or special ability, something you would like to learn, and one of your favorite things. We can't wait to share our Brown Brag items too! See you Monday morning!
