Flying into February

Thank you so much for your attendance at the conferences!!  It's a tough week with early dismissal, but we have survived.  Back to normal -- so to speak!!

We will continue to work on our reading and math skills diligently with the CRCT coming up before we know it!  Please have your student practice on line as much as possible as we discussed at the conference.  It will help with confidence as well! 

In science we will be changing classes this week to start with Mrs. Ashmeade.  She teaches the unit on cells.

In social studies we are close to the turn of the century -- 20th that is and will test on Chapter 6 on Feb. 5th.  World War I is right around the corner.

Your student should be reading for pleasure an average of 20 minutes each night.  Discuss what your student is reading with him/her.

January is Here!

  Welcome back to fifth grade after a great two weeks off!!  It is now only THREE months until our CRCT testing.......keep reading and reviewing math skills at home!!  Hopefully Santa brought some flash cards and practice workbooks for your student to stay sharp!   Information went home last week about how you can practice for the test at home on the computer.

   Thank you for returning conference slips.  Please remember to keep your time.  We'll have quite a bit to talk about including the report card, testing, and preparing for middle school next year!  It's hard to believe half the year is over!

  Please check with your student to see if their supplies are up to date.  They should always have paper and plenty of pencils.

  In math we have started fractions.  Please review daily with your student as these concepts need much reinforcing!!

  In science they are finishing their animal unit with Mrs. Johnson.

  In social studies we have started Chapter 6.  Review with your student with the study guide to prepare for the eventual test. 

  Remember to keep them reading for pleasure approximately 20 minutes each night.  Let's see those AR points climb!
