Happy Fall! What a wonderful time to curl up and read a book! November reading logs come home today. They are due on December 3rd!
We are sailing into studying European explorers like: Balboa, Cabot, Hudson, Columbus, Ponce de Leon, and Cartier. Each student will research a specific explorer and become an expert on their accomplishments, obstacles, and reasons for their expeditions. This is an exciting project.
PLease be sure to ask your child what they are learning in Social Studies!
In Math we are conquering LONG DIVISION! It is vital that students practice math facts, daily. The only way for students to be confident in the work is to be confident with the basic facts!
In Reading, we are enjoying Traditional Literature. We have read and discussed Tall Tales, Fables, and Folktales. The students really enjoyed this unit. We are moving into famous poets. We will begin with Emily Dickinson. If you have a moment to surf the net with your child, this would be a fun place to start. Google: Emily Dickinson.
In writing, we are responding to what we have read. This may be a summary, an article, a speech, or a brochure. We are working hard to produce 4th grade writing! Thanks to each of you for supporting my efforts of not excepting anything but your child's best!!
