SUBJECT AREAS

MATH

With this unit the focus is 2 digit by 3 digit multiplication and division.  There is also a focus of graphs, data and multiples of tens.  It is very important to keep studying their times facts.  We will be continuing the times test 2-3 times a week.

READING

Crct is coming up around the corner.  We are focusing on strategies for the test.  Questioning, inferencing, main idea and so much more.  Please take advantage of the packet that was sent home.  If your child does this in the evening for at least 20 minutes, including on line, you may substitute the CRCT practice for their reading log.  Just be sure to write it in.

Another focus for this 9 weeks is poetry and narrative writing.  We will explore limericks, haiku, alliteration and the poetic devises.  The children will be writing and expressing themselves with their own poetry writings.

GRAMMAR

We have really taken charge of grammar.  The class has learned about subjects, verbs, predicates, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, prefixes and suffixes.  We are working hard.

SOCIAL STUDIES/ SCIENCE

In science we will look at magnets and heat.

April News

April 7th-11th is SPRING BREAK !!!!  Please enjoy this week off with your family.

When we come back we will be doing drills for the CRCT.  Please start working on getting your child in bed early, eating a good breakfast, a water bottle and send in a HEALTHY snack.  It is also important that your child wear comfortable clothing and bring in 2 number 2 pencils.  We will be cutting back on the homework next week.  During the week of testing there will NOT be any homework at all.

Spring Carnival is Friday April 18th, 5:30pm-8:30pm.  We have a basket that needs to be stuffed with all kinds of Italian items.  We do have a few things, but really need much more.  The baskets are auction off to raise money for the PTA.

Math is still a focus on extending multiplication and division.  We are learning about the disruptive property, all kinds of graphs, tally charts, frequency charts and 2 digit by 3 digit problems.  Keep going overt those times tables.

Reading is a focus on CRCT skills until testing is over.  We will be writing some poetry and doing some guiding reading with chapter books in May.

In Science we will take a look at heat and magnets.

Welcome

Hi class, welcome to my blog.  I am new at this so be kind.  I want to tell you a bit about me.  I am 38 years old, My parents live in Vinning, I have three older brothers that are all married.  I have 2 nieces, another on the way and a nephew.  I live in a great townhouse off Barrett.  I am a native Georgian, of five generations and have just completed my masters at Kennesaw State University.  This is my 5th year teaching 3rd, and my ninth year all together. I love it.  This year we have lots of fun and exciting things planed.  Stay tune for new updates.

Well, after completing my master's I really started looking for a dog.  I found one from North Metro Adoption.  She is a miniature Doberman and dachshund mix.  She was named Vegas.  I just love vacationing there and thought what a cute name for such a little show dog.  So here is a picture I just had to share.
