I am Mrs. Erika Brown.

End of the Year!

It is that happy/sad time of year again!  Good luck to all of the 5th graders leaving.

4th and 3rd graders, have a happy and safe summer.  See you in August!

Meet Mrs. Brown

 

Hello All!  I am Erika Brown and this is my thrid year as a teacher at Big Shanty, but my fifth year teaching Elementary music.

I grew up in Seguin, TX.   After graduating from Seguin High School I went to LSU where I earned my degree in Music Education with a concentration in instrumental music.  French Horn is my primary instrument, but I have also spent many years in various choirs and I am currently a memeber of the Cobb Symphony Orchestra Chorus. I am currently earning my Master's degree in Education Leadership and Technology from KSU.

My husband and I have three dogs; Fred, Oskar and Magic. 

Oskar and Magic are German Wirehaired Pointers and Fred is a Cajun-mutt.

I love teaching music to young children and I am enjoying my time here in the Kennesaw area.

April, 18 at Noon.  We will be on the Depot Stage!

Recorders Rock!

We are rocking away on our recorders!  Just to let you know the last day to play a belt for me is April 27.  Get your black belt before then!

2009 Big Shanty Fine Arts Talent Show

Tickets are on sale now!  Buy yours soon.  Only a limited number of tickets are for sale and no tickets will be sold at the door.  We have already sold over 100 tickets, so don't delay your order!

The Talent Show will be held on March 20.  Dinner starts at 6:00 and the show starts at 7:00.

3rd grade Little Eagle Chorus

This year, we will have a 3rd grade chorus to introduce 3rd grade students to life as a Big Shanty Chorus Member.  The 3rd grade Little Eagle Chorus will meet in March and April.  At the Big Shanty Festival, the Little Eagle Chorus and the Big Shanty Eagle Chorus will perform together.  More information and the sign-up sheet will go home in the Thursday folder on Feb. 5th.

5th grade is using the Red Hot Recorder method book this year.  Here is a list of the recorder karate belts with titles and page numbers.

The 2009 Big Shanty Talent Show is near!

Audition sign-ups will be on January 20, 21, 22 from 7:15-7:45 outside the music and art room.

Auditions will be held in the Cafeteria on January 26, 27, 28 from 12:10-3:30.

The Talent Show Tickets will go on sale on February 19.

The Talent Show will be on March 20.
