December Update

We are extremely proud of our Student Council and all the students at Big Shanty who have helped us with the canned food drive and our Angel Tree. Our students collected 2,938 cans of food!  We were able to provide food boxes for 22 Big Shanty families for both the Thanksgiving and Winter holidays.  Mrs. Morris' class won a pizza party and movie with a total of 321 cans collected.  Our second place winner was Ms. Phillips/Ms. Milton's class with 187 cans collected and third place goes to Mrs. Douglas' class with 180 cans.  Way to go kids - especially our 4th grade classes taking the top three spots!  We even collected so many canned food items that we were able to donate to Summit Baptist Church's food pantry.

We are also proud of Ms. Peacock’s third grade class and Student Council who adopted a soldier in Iraq—one of our Mom’s! We had so much fun keeping this a secret until our December meeting of Student Council. Please enjoy the picture of the student with all the items they collected.

We also want to thank all of you for your support of our Angel Tree this year. Thanks to all of you and lots of community support from NorthStar Church, North Cobb High School’s Shop With A Warrior, Kennesaw’s First Baptist Church, and our wonderful PTA Community Outreach Committee we were able to help 18 Big Shanty families this year!
